COLOMBO (News1st): The Attorney General has sought the appointment of another trial-at-bar to try 10 accused over the third central bank treasury bond auction on March 31, 2016, in relation to the infamous bond scam. The request had been made to the Chief Justice, the state prosecutor's coordinating officer State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne said Monday. The suspects to be tried include former finance minister Ravi Karunanayake, former central bank governor Arjuna Mahendran and Arjun Aloysius - a director of Perpetual Treasuries Ltd, that was implicated in the scam. Last week, the Attorney General had requested the Chief Justice to appoint a trial-at-bar to try the 10 accused over the bond scam that had caused grave injustice to the other primary dealers in the bond market.
