Residents repair Kotagama anicut

COLOMBO (News1st): It has been two weeks since the anicut in Kotagama, Bibile was damaged. Despite travelling on the road adjacent to the anicut has become risky, the relevant authorities have yet to pay their attention to the matter. These farmers in debt fear that they will not be able to reap their harvest. An attempt was made to repair the anicut by villagers yesterday. They claim that the anicut cannot be repaired only by bags of sand. Villagers allege that 80 acres of paddy fields belonging to 250 farming families in Kotagama, Halpanuwela, Keladena villages could be destroyed due to this.
