New COVID-19 variant is dangerous

COLOMBO (News1st): "Although the new COVID-19 variant was identified in Colombo, Avissawella, Biyagama and Vavuniya, it does not imply that it exists only in those areas" President Association of Government Medical Laboratory Technologists Ravi Kumudesh said. "A national programme to initiate proper testing to identify COVID variants and how they spread is still not in place" he said. "When England first detected the spread of this variant in their country they placed England under lockdown." he added. President Association of Government Medical Laboratory Technologists Ravi Kumudesh urged authorities not to blame the citizens or the health sector if the spread of this new variant spirals out of control.
