COLOMBO (News1st): Villagers of Mahasenpura home to 600 families shed tears of happiness following several years of grief on Friday. This was during the inauguration ceremony of a water-related project carried out by the Gammadda movement. Once battered by the war, these locals have been hit by a myriad of problems in their attempt to meet their basic needs. Several villagers have fallen prey to kidney-related ailments as a result of being deprived of access to clean drinking water. The Gammadda movement that listened to the woes of these villagers, began the construction of a water project in the area. It was the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Capital Maharaja Group Sunil Kanojia and his wife who support this project in remembrance of their loving daughter, to make a dream of these villagers become a reality. The benevolent donors were among those present as more than 600 families in the village received the first drop of clean drinking water in several years. The villagers of Mahasenpura wholeheartedly welcomed the project to obtain water through a tank and a tube well installed at the Sandagiri Temple. The first drops of clean drinking water were poured onto a bo-tree in the area.
