COLOMBO (News 1st): Six top management officers including two Deputy General Managers of the Paddy Marketing Board were interdicted for alleged large scale fraud, the Ministry of Agriculture said.
“Various large scale fraud worth billions of rupees, were committed at the Paddy Marketing Board in the recent past, with regard to the process of purchasing paddy from farmers, sale of paddy and storage,” Mahindananda Aluthgamage, the Minister of Agriculture told News 1st on Friday (Feb. 12).
According to Minister Aluthgamage, a complaint has been lodged with the Criminal Investigations Department as well.
Ministry officials were assigned to fulfill the duties of the interdicted officers, the Minister further noted.
