SLSMU launch 'Work to Rule' Trade Union Action

COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka Station Masters’ Union (SLSMU) launched a 'Work to Rule' trade union action at midnight on Wednesday (Feb. 10), citing several demands. "There may be delays in office trains this morning (Feb. 11) and certain trains may even get cancelled as a result of the trade union action," Sumedha Somaratne, the President of the SLSMU told News 1st on Thursday (11). All trains are operating without any delays despite the trade union action, the Railways Control Room confirmed to News 1st. SLSMU President - Sumedha Somaratne pointed out that there is a severe shortage of junior staff at railway stations, adding the Department of Railways is yet to take any action to resolve the issue.
