COLOMBO (News1st): A Satyagraha campaign launched by farmers of Walsapugala demanding a managed wild elephant reserve entered its 22nd day on Monday. Farmers pointed out that the promises made by minister Chamal Rajapaksa, who had visited the area on January 23, has not been implemented yet. "He (Chamal Rajapaksa) said that the reserve will be gazetted and that a fence would be erected against wild elephants from January 24," a protestor pointed out. The protestors observed that these promises have not been fulfilled although the date has lapsed.
