Will plantation companies be handed over to foreign companies?

COLOMBO (News1st): Minister of agriculture today spoke about the fate of companies that do not increase the daily wage to 1000 rupees. "The government decided to give the estate workers a daily wage of 1000 rupees. Some estate workers are not paying this to their employees." Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage said. Minister Aluthgamage offered plantations companies an alternative, to either pay the minimum wage to the estate workers or hand over the plantation companies to the government. "We are of the stance that estate workers must be given this 1000 rupee daily wage" he added.
