Seven COVID-19 deaths on Thursday (04); total fatalities at 339

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Director-General of Health Services confirmed that seven COVID-19 deaths were reported in the country on Thursday (Feb. 04), raising Sri Lanka's COVID-19 death toll to 339. The details of the deceased are as follows: 01. A 58-year-old male from Maggona. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid and transferred from the Colombo-South Teaching Hospital to the IDH, where he died on 3rd February 2021. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID pneumonia and complicated kidney disease. 02. An 82-year-old male from Waauda. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid at a private hospital in Kandy and transferred to the Theldeniya Base Hospital, where he died on 3rd February 2021. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID pneumonia, acute heart condition and kidney damage. 03. A 70-year-old male from Katugastota. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid at a private hospital in Kandy and transferred to the Theldeniya Base Hospital, where he died on 3rd February 2021. The cause of death is mentioned as severe COVID pneumonia, kidney condition and heart disease. 04. A 53-year-old male from Hettipola who passed away on 4th February 2021, while receiving treatment at the Homagama Base Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID pneumonia. 05. A 66-year-old male from Biyagama who passed away on 2nd February 2021, while receiving treatment at the Homagama Base Hospital. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID pneumonia and acute lung infection. 06. A 78-year-old female from Dikwella. She was transferred from the Matara District Hospital to the Colombo General Hospital where she passed away on 1st February 2021. The cause of death is mentioned as heart failure due to COVID-19 and high blood pressure. 07. A 62-year-old male from Nuwara Eliya. He was diagnosed as infected with Covid at the Nuwara Eliya District Hospital and transferred to the Homagama Base Hospital, where he died on 4th February 2021. The cause of death is mentioned as COVID pneumonia. Meanwhile, another 704 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in the country on Thursday (04), raising Sri Lanka's COVID-19 caseload to 67,115. As of Friday (Feb. 05), there are 6209 active COVID-19 patients receiving treatment, while 60,567 have recovered, according to the Epidemiology Unit at the Ministry of Health.
