COLOMBO (News 1st): Those who have been ordered to undergo the COVID-19 quarantine procedures at home, should strictly abide by the set instructions and stay at home, Deputy Police Chief Ajith Rohana stressed on Thursday (Feb. 04). According to the Sri Lanka Police, as of Thursday (04), there are 121,000 people undergoing home-quarantine. "If a person has been ordered to follow quarantine procedures at home, they should stay at home, and they should not move under any circumstances," Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana sternly advised on Thursday (Feb. 04). According to the DIG Ajith Rohana, an operation was launched to inspect such residences, in order to ensure those who are ordered to undergo quarantine, abide by the said regulations. "If any person violates the quarantine procedures, rules and regulations, they are dealt with the law after the quarantine period," DIG Ajith Rohana emphasized. Thereby, the Deputy Police Chief advised those quarantined at home, to stay at home until the quarantine period concludes. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Police arrested 11 people in a 24-hour window that ended on Thursday morning (Feb. 04), for the failure to wear face masks and maintain social distances. Since 30th October 2020 to-date, a total of 2981 people were arrested for the failure to follow COVID-19 quarantine rules and regulations, according to Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana.
