COLOMBO (News1st): The Sri Lankan cricket team’s tour of West Indies is likely to be rescheduled after the head coach and a player had tested positive for COVID-19.
“Head Coach Mickey Arthur and Sri Lanka Player Lahiru Thirimanne have tested positive for COVID-19,” Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) said in a statement on Wednesday.
They had been detected following PCR tests carried out for the entire 36-member squad, coaching staff and net bowlers, the statement read.
SLC noted that the head coach and the player have been directed to follow the government’s health protocol for COVID-19.
“SLC is exploring the possibility of rescheduling the tour of West Indies, which was scheduled to commence on Feb 20, 2021,” the statement added.
