INDIA'S COVISHIELD VACCINE TO SL TODAY (28)

COLOMBO (News 1st): A consignment of 500,000 doses of India's AstraZeneca COVISHIELD vaccine will arrive in Sri Lanka at 11:00 am today (Jan. 28), the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 Vaccination Plan and National Development said. The vaccine will be administered to 250,000 individuals, according to Principal Adviser to the President Lalith Weeratunga who heads the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 Vaccination Plan and National Development. "We have estimated the number of healthcare workers to stand at 155,000. At the same time, we have estimated the amount of tri-forces personnel and police officers between 115,000 and 120,000. We will administer the vaccines on these groups and then start distributing it among other individuals," President's Chief Adviser told reporters in Colombo on Wednesday (Jan. 27).
