COLOMBO (News1st): Sri Lanka will continue to draw investments to the East Container Terminal while continuing to retain its ownership, state finance ministry Ajith Nivard Cabraal said. "We hope to carry out the transhipment of cargo through this terminal with India," Cabraal, the State Minister of Money and Capital Market told reporters on Wednesday. "What will happen if we focus only on ownership while no operations take place in our terminal?". The state minister admitted that diverse views are being expressed on this matter within the government faction. "The views of everyone have been taken into consideration before proceeding with this move," Cabraal noted. The government's move to handover a 49 percent stake in the Colombo Port's East Container Terminal to India's Adani Group has drawn concerns from various entities.
