KEEP KIDS AWAY FROM DRUGS: DIG AJITH ROHANA

COLOMBO (News 1st): Taking into account the increasing trend in the spread of synthetic drugs, Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana on Friday (Jan. 22) urged parents to ensure that children do not fall victim to the use of drugs. "Parents of young boys should be vigilant on this issue and all the precautionary measures should be taken to prevent the children from falling to the use of drugs," DIG Ajith Rohana requested. Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Police conducted several anti-narcotics raids in various parts of the country on Thursday (Jan. 21). A 36-year-old suspect was arrested along with 110 grams of Heroin in Kotahena during a raid conducted by the Western Province Intelligence Unit, Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said on Friday (Jan. 22). Moreover, a 28-year-old woman from Mattakuliya was arrested with 10 grams of Heroin in Oliyamulla, Peliyagoda during a raid conducted by Peliyagoda Police. According to DIG Ajith Rohana, the officers of Batticaloa Police recovered 10 kilograms of Cannabis from a three-wheeler during a search operation conducted at the Urani checkpoint. The four suspects who are residents of Valaichchenai were arrested during the raid. The suspects will be produced at the Batticaloa Magistrate's Court today (Jan. 22). "Apart from these natural drugs, there is a tendency of spreading synthetic drugs in the country. Therefore, we are conducting several anti-narcotic operations along with all the stakeholders to break the network," the Deputy Police Chief emphasized.
