Colombo (News 1st); All Sri Lankans over the age of 18 will be given military training said Minister of Public Security, Retired Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara on Monday (18) adding, a proposal will be tabled in Parliament in due course.
The objective of presenting such a proposal is to create a more disciplined and law-abiding society in Sri Lanka, said the minister adding, that countries that have already implemented similar programs have achieved great results.
He said the public should not panic over such a proposal or military training, adding such a program will boost self-confidence among the people and bring about leadership.
