COLOMBO (News1st) The Government Medical Officers' Association today warned that it would take legal action against certain media outlets, that are spreading false rumors about doctors at the forefront of the COVID-19 response. "The government medical officers association is currently part of a program, to eradicate the consumption of tobacco, alcohol, and narcotics in Sri Lanka. However, our intervention in this matter has become an obstruction to certain heads of media institutions. Certain individuals have been angered due to our intervention in this matter, as it's a hindrance to their businesses, which are embroiled in racketeering" Dr. Naveen De Soysa Deputy Secretary GMOA said. "In response to this, such factions are spreading false rumors, that the head of the government medical officers association, specialist Dr. Anurudda Padeniya has gone into hiding" he added. "Spreading such cheap and false rumors, would not suppress us from going forward in this endeavor," he said.
