COLOMBO (News1st): Tax concessions would be granted by the government to the local cinema industry, the Prime Minister's office said in a statement. Equipment imported for the production and screening of films will receive concessions on import duty, the statement issued on Thursday read. It added that tax concessions would also be granted for expenses incurred on film production and revenue gained through film screening. "These taxes will be granted under the permission of the Sri Lanka Film Corporation," the Prime Minister's office noted. The decision to grant tax concessions had been made by finance secretary S.R. Attygalle, and cultural affairs secretary Kapila Gunawardana.
