PURCHASING OF PADDY FROM MAHA-SEASON BEGINS

COLOMBO (News 1st): The purchasing of paddy from the Maha Season began on Tuesday (Jan. 12), the Paddy Marketing Board said. "Plans are underway to purchase 300,000 metric tonnes of paddy from the Maha Season this year," Dr. Jatal Mannapperuma, Chairman of the Paddy Marketing Board told News 1st on Tuesday (Jan. 12). According to Dr. Manapperuma, the Treasury has allocated a sum of Rs. 16.5 billion in this regard.
