Colombo (News 1st); The Sri Lankan Government is yet to produce anyone responsible for the 2019 April 21st Attacks, while the US has already charged three people for the terror attacks, alleged Samagi Jana Balavegaya Parliamentarian Eran Wickramaratne.
Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Former Defence State Minister Ruwan Wijewardena are not connected to these attacks, said the MP adding, however, the government must be held accountable.
He said the present government has a responsibility to ensure those accountable are punished and not limit an action to mere arrests of individuals.
Minister of Public Security Retired Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara said since the government awaits the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to probe the attacks, there would be a delay in filing legal action.
He said the report is expected to be submitted on the 31st of January and it would be perused with any new evidence gathered.
Further, the Attorney General had appointed a team of 12 expert lawyers to file legal action against those accountable, he said.
He said relevant information will be submitted to the US Courts as well, since US nationals were among those killed in the attacks.
