COLOMBO (News1st): India will maintain communications with Sri Lanka on the Colombo Port’s East Container Terminal, Indian external affairs minister Dr S. Jaishankar had told the Veerakesari newspaper.
The minister had pointed out that two-thirds of the container operations at the Colombo Port are connected to India, outlining the advantages of having India as a stakeholder at the terminal.
In the interview, Dr Jaishnakar had said that India is happy about the fact that Sri Lanka is keen on developing the terminal through Indian and Japanese investments.
He had stressed that the ownership of the port will remain with Sri Lanka, and the deal would help strengthen naval ties between the two nations.
