NINE DEATHS DUE TO ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS

COLOMBO (News 1st): A total of nine people died in road traffic accidents on Friday(08) and Thursday(07), Sri Lanka Police said on Saturday (Jan. 09). The victims include, three motorcycle riders, two passengers of three-wheelers, one cyclist, and one pedestrian, Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said. "The reasons for road traffic accidents are neglectful driving, reckless driving, and driving under the influence. Therefore, all the precautionary measures should be taken to prevent accidents," the Deputy Police Chief emphasized. According to the Police Spokesperson, more than 40 people sustained injuries in road traffic accidents in the past 24-hours that ended on Saturday morning (Jan. 09).
