Sri Lanka in talks with India, China for COVID-19 vaccines

COLOMBO (News1st): Sri Lanka is holding talks with India and China to bring down COVID-19 vaccines, foreign secretary Jayanath Colambage said. Colambage told News1st that the government is evaluating the cost involved in bringing down the vaccines and studying its storage and distribution. He added that the AstraZeneca vaccine that is being used in several countries is among the jabs like to be brought down by Sri Lanka. "President (Gotabaya Rajapaksa) has appointed chief advisor Lalith Weeratunga and a committee for this purpose," the foreign secretary noted. He added that the committee is expected to submit its preliminary report this week. The president's chief advisor had instructed to obtain more details on the vaccines including its success rate, through Sri Lankan foreign missions, the foreign secretary noted.
