Limestone mining near Victoria Dam suspended

COLOMBO (News1st): Limestone mining within a radius of 100 metres from the Victoria Dam has been suspended, environment minister Mahinda Amaraweera said. The decision comes in the wake of several tremors experienced in the area last year. Amaraweera told a news conference that the suspension had been imposed based on the recommendations of the expert committee that investigated the tremors.
