DAILY QUOTA OF INBOUND PASSENGERS TO INCREASE

COLOMBO (News 1st): The daily quota of the number of passengers that can be brought to Sri Lanka, which stands at 500 at present will be increased in the future, the Army Commander said on Tuesday (Jan. 05). "As of now, every commercial flight has been given a quota of 50 per day to be brought back to Sri Lanka. We are planning to increase the number up to 75. There are about 10 flights coming to Sri Lanka daily. Thereby, they can bring about 750 passengers," Army Commander General Shavendra Silva, the Head of the National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak told News 1st. Furthermore, repatriation flights organised by the government will continue. According to the Army Commander, around 500 Sri Lankans repatriated from Abu Dhabi, Qatar, Singapore, and Indonesia are expected to arrive in the country today (05).
