SHOWERS EXCEEDING 75 MM LIKELY TODAY (02)

COLOMBO (News 1st): Showery weather over the Northern and Eastern parts of the island is expected to enhance in the coming days, due to the wavy-type atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, the Department of Meteorology said on Saturday (Jan. 02). Showers are likely at times in the Northern, Eastern, North-central, Uva, and Central provinces and in the Hambantota district. Fairly heavy showers or thundershowers above 50 mm could also be expected at some places on Saturday (Jan. 02) evening, the weather advisory noted. Fairly heavy showers exceeding 75 mm could be expected at some places in the Sabaragamuwa province and in Kalutara, Galle, and Matara districts, the Met Department said.
