Sri Lanka's COVID-19 death toll hits 208

COLOMBO (News1st): Sri Lankan health authorities confirmed four COVID-19 deaths with the beginning of the new year on Friday, bringing the local death toll up to 208. A 67-year old male from Alayadivembu and a 91-year old female from Colombo 14 were among the individuals who had passed away on Friday. They had passed away at the Infectious Diseases Hospital due to pneumonia caused by the virus. A 65-year old male from Agalawatta who had died at the Kalutara General Hospital on Thursday was among the deceased, the government information department said. His cause of death has been identified as liver failure and pneumonia. Another death was of a 63-year old male resident of Darga Town who had died on admission to the Kalutara General Hospital on Wednesday. The cause of death has been identified as blood poisoning, heart disease, and pneumonia.
