The tourists from Ukraine were welcomed ceremonially at the Mattala International Airport, and it was observed the visitors were not wearing face masks in a proper manner.

Sooriyaarachchi said the dancing troupe did not come into close contact with the visitors, and it is impossible for them to contract the virus adding, all personnel followed the necessary health guidelines.

Ex-Sri Lankan Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weeratunga in a post on Facebook said only 05 of the 394 Ukrainian visitors had contracted the virus and it is possible 01% - 05% of the total group could test positive for COVID-19.
