There is a clash between sustainable development and environmental sustainability; Env. Ministry Secretary

COLOMBO (News 1st): Speaking at a tree planting program on Thursday (24th December), Former Director-General of Health Services and the current Environment Ministry Secretary Dr. Anil Jasinghe said the program aims to plant 5 million trees within the next five years. "This is the first time provisions have been allocated by the ministry for such an initiative. The environment is destroyed due to development activities, and this is why it is important to focus on sustainable development," the Ministry Secretary added. He added that there is a conflict between sustainable development and environmental sustainability. "We must strike a balance between these two," Dr. Anil Jasinghe said.
