COVID-19 MEDICINES MUST BE CLINICALLY CERTIFIED

COLOMBO (News 1st): Any medicine or vaccine that is used to treat Coronavirus should be clinically certified, Dr. Sudarshini Fernandopulle, the State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics and Covid Disease Control said while addressing the Special Committee on COVID-19 Vaccine on Tuesday (Dec. 15). Unless the proper medical protocols are followed, the results could be devastating, the State Minister emphasized. Meanwhile, according to Deputy Director-General of Health Services - Dr. Hemantha Herath initial preparations are underway to bring down the COVID-19 vaccine. "The vaccine will be provided to Sri Lanka through the World Health Organisation and the Ministry of Health is in the process of facilitating the relevant infrastructure to support the immunization process once the vaccine is obtained," Dr. Herath said. Dr. Herath said, "Measures will be taken to immunize the target groups as soon as a clinically approved vaccine is provided by the World Health Organisation."
