Patali Champika Ranawaka leaves Jathika Hela Urumaya

COLOMBO (News 1st): Patali Champika Ranawaka on Saturday (Dec. 12) stepped down from the post of General Secretary of the Jathika Hela Urumaya and resigned from the party. This was informed at a special conference of the Jathika Hela Urumaya held at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute, on Saturday (Dec. 12). Patali Champika Ranawaka said he was leaving the party to build a new social movement. Furthermore, members of the Central Working Committee of the Jathika Hela Urumaya also resigned from their posts. Accordingly, Patali Champika Ranawaka, Karunaratne Paranavithana, Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe, Anuruddha Pradeep, and Nirosha Athukorala have resigned. The appointment of a new office bearer to the JHU also took place at the same time, with the approval of the party members present at the convention. Accordingly, Ven. Hadigalle Wimalasara Thero was appointed as the new Chairman of the Jathika Hela Urumaya. Bandula Chandrasekara will new General Secretary of the party. Daya Perera was appointed as the Deputy Chairman, Tudor Perera as the Deputy Secretary, and Anil Jayawardena as the Treasurer. Mahendra Jayasinghe is the new National Organizer of the JHU. 25 new officers were appointed to the Central Committee of the party.
