COLOMBO (News 1st): There is NO decision at a plan at the moment, to isolate, impose curfew or put the country under lock-down, in line with the upcoming festive season, Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva, the Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said on Saturday (Dec. 12).

However, depending on the situation in the next 10-days till the festive season, the decision might be subject to changes, the Army Commander noted.

According to the Army Commander, the COVID-19 Task Force convenes every day under the auspices of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa, to discuss and analyze the situation.

“There are about 10-days till the festive season, and the imposition of restrictions will depend on the rate in the spread of the virus and the situation closer to the festive season,” Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva noted.
