Act in compliance with quarantine regulations during festival season: DIG Ajith Rohana

COLOMBO (News 1st): Police Spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General Ajith Rohana on Saturday (Dec. 12) urged the people to act in compliance with quarantine rules and regulations in line with the upcoming festive season.  "Now we are in the festive season, everyone is preparing to celebrate the festivals. However, the pandemic is rapidly spreading in the world and in Sri Lanka. Therefore, always adhere to quarantine rules and regulations when celebrating festivals and events," the Deputy Police Chief emphasized. As of Saturday (Dec. 12), Sri Lanka has recorded 31,375 confirmed cases of the virus. The Government Medical Officers Association, on Friday (Dec. 11) warned that once a country surpasses the 30,000 mark of COVID-19 cases, there has been a trend of increased transmission in a majority of countries worldwide. "Sri Lanka is at a critical juncture at present with many challenges ahead where we must ensure the country does not face the same fate as other states," Dr. Haritha Aluthge, the Editor at the Government Medical Officers Association emphasized on Friday (Dec. 12).
