COLOMBO (News 1st): Once a country surpasses the 30,000 mark of COVID-19 cases, there has been a trend of increased transmission in a majority of countries worldwide, the Government Medical Officers Association warned on Friday (Dec. 11). "Sri Lanka has moved up 52 places towards the negative end, in a short time frame of only one and a half months," emphasized Dr. Haritha Aluthge, the Editor at the Government Medical Officers Association. While emphasizing that Sri Lanka was ranked 147th towards mid-October, Dr. Aluthge said as of yesterday, the country was ranked at 95th out of 200, with the rapid detection of new cases. "Sri Lanka is at a critical juncture at present with many challenges ahead where we must ensure the country does not face the same fate as other states," GMOA Editor, Dr. Haritha Aluthge reiterated.
