Colombo (News 1st);  All public officers are bound to protect public property and public resources, said Attorney General Dappula De Livera on Thursday (10), adding public servants must ensure the public property is preserved and protected.

It is important for public servants to maintain the facilities provided, he stressed and noted in the public service there is very little emphasis on maintenance.

Dappula De Livera went on to say the public facilities must be preserved for the future and therefore public property must be maintained and protected.

Without a comfortable and pleasant working environment, one cannot expect to enhance and optimize performance, said Attorney General Dappula De Livera.

Public Servants should be provided the infrastructure and facilities to function and fully realize their potential and perform their duties to the maximum in the interest of the state, he added.

De Livera was speaking at the opening of the Northern Residential Bungalow for Attorney General's Department Officers in the Nothern Province in Vavuniya on Thursday (10).

Construction was funded by the Government of Sri Lanka and carried out by the Sri Lanka Army.

The Attorney General said it is important to make provision for public servants who sacrifice so much for the sake of the people of the country.
