COLOMBO (News 1st): The four suspects arrested during the narcotic bust in Marawila last Sunday, were remanded till the 16th of December after being produced at the Marawila Magistrate’s Court, the Excise Department said on Tuesday (Dec. 08).
The Excise Department on Sunday (December 06th) seized 100kg of Heroin and 100kg of ICE during a raid in the Thoduwawa area in Marawila.
The preliminary evidence examination will be conducted on Wednesday (Dec. 09), Kapila Kumarasinghe, the Deputy Excise Commissioner told News 1st.
According to Kumarasinghe, the Excise Department will continue the investigation and legal action will be instituted against the perpetrators accordingly.
The stock of narcotics seized on Sunday (Dec. 06) is valued at over Rs. 01 Billion in street value.
Two vehicles, a van and a tipper truck used by the suspects to transport the stock of narcotics were also taken into custody by the Excise Department.
