COLOMBO (News1st): Trade minister Bandula Gunawardana has instructed state-run 'Sathosa' stores to reduce the cost of brown sugar by Rs 5 from December 2. "The trade minister instructed the Sathosa Chairman to reduce the cost of brown sugar from Rs 140 to Rs 135," the trade ministry said in a statement on Wednesday. It noted that the directive had been issued during a meeting of the parliament's consultative committee on trade. During the meeting, the minister had declared that the first economic centre under the 'Rajawasa' programme, offering all locally manufactured goods under one roof will be declared open on December 31. "25 Rajawasa economic centres will be set-up covering all 25 districts in the country," the statement read.
