Colombo (News 1st); A group of prisoners at the Old Bogambara Prison in Kandy staged a protest by climbing on to the roof of one of the prison buildings demanding authorities carry out PCR tests on all the prisoners.

Speaking to News 1st Prisons Commissioner General Thushara Upuldeniya said the protest was staged at a time when PCR tests were being carried out on prisoners.

He said 100 to 150 inmates are subject to the PCR tests on a daily basis at prisons.
