Colombo (News 1st); Authorities have decided to increase the number of PCR tests carried out in Colombo to 1000 tests per day.
The Chief Medical Officer for Health at the Colombo Municipal Council Dr. Ruwan Wijayamuni speaking to News 1st on Wednesday (11) said random PCR tests are carried out in Colombo North, Colombo Central, Borella, Colombo West, and Colombo East targeting the first contacts of the COVID-19 cases.
A majority of these tests are carried out in Colombo North and Colombo Central localities, as a large number of COVID-19 cases were reported from those areas.
He said random PCR tests will be carried out continuously until the spread of the coronavirus is controlled.
