DCC meeting regarding COVID-19

The Colombo District Coordinating Committee meeting convenes to talk about the present COVID-19 situation

Colombo (News 1st): The Colombo District Coordinating Committee meeting was convened today regarding the COVID-19 situation in the Colombo District. Several representatives of the ruling and opposition parties were present at the meeting. At the meeting, Secretary of the Colombo District - Pradeep Yasarath said that they have provided the hamper worth Rs.10,000 to 9033 families and that the pending hampers are for 130 other families who have been identified during the last two days. He said that arrangements to provide the hampers to the families in need will be underway as soon as they identify them. Minister of Trade - Dr. Bandula Gunawardane said that the problem related to rice will be solved in a couple of days. He said the Prime Minister has an order at the cabinet to release Nadu Rice held by all District Secretaries to the market. Opposition Leader - Sajith Premadasa said that there are several shortcomings regarding the relief given to the public. He urged the Government should work on providing solutions to these as soon as possible.
