50,000 COVID-19 Antigen Test Kits to arrive in the island

Colombo (News 1st): Prof. Channa Jayasumana, the State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals has stated that the Government has not purchased any rapid Antigen test kits. However, medical associations point out that the Government has already planned to purchase rapid antigen tests kits that were imported into the country by a private company without prior approval. The Ministry of Health is due to use the rapid Antigen tests for community screening. Tenders were called for the purchase of Antigen tests kits recently. Accepting tenders for the purchase of the test kits ended on the 2nd of this month and according to the Ministry of Health 30 tenders were submitted.
