COLOMBO (News1st): The intensive care unit, operation theatre and two wards at the Homagama Base Hospital were closed down following the detection of a COVID-19 patient.
The patient had undergone a surgery for lacerations caused due to a knife stabbing.
“A random PCR test carried out him showed that he had tested positive for the virus,” Dr. Janitha Hettiarachchi, the director of the hospital said.
Meanwhile, a police inspector attached to the ministerial security division who had been undergoing quarantine in Habaraduwa has tested positive for COVID-19.
The regional health director’s office in the Galle district said that the police inspector and two of his sons have contracted the virus.
Our correspondent reported that the police inspector had been lodged at the police quarters in Colombo 07.
