Detection of COVID-19 patient shuts sections in Homagama hospital

COLOMBO (News1st): The intensive care unit, operation theatre and two wards at the Homagama Base Hospital were closed down following the detection of a COVID-19 patient. The patient had undergone a surgery for lacerations caused due to a knife stabbing. "A random PCR test carried out him showed that he had tested positive for the virus," Dr. Janitha Hettiarachchi, the director of the hospital said. Meanwhile, a police inspector attached to the ministerial security division who had been undergoing quarantine in Habaraduwa has tested positive for COVID-19. The regional health director's office in the Galle district said that the police inspector and two of his sons have contracted the virus.
