Legal action against Colpetty wedding party for violating quarantine regs.

Colombo (News 1st);  Sri Lanka Police said it will institute action against those involved in organizing a wedding at a star-hotel in Colpetty on Friday (30), disregarding the quarantine regulations and the quarantine curfew which is in effect across the entire Western Province.

Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said the Colpetty Police was informed of a wedding taking place within its police area close to Galle Face Green.

Thereafter, a Police team visited the hotel and found the wedding was taking place in violation of the quarantine regulations, said the Deputy Police Chief adding around 35 people were in attendance.

DIG Ajith Rohana said no wedding or public gatherings can take place in the Western Province, given the present situation in the country.

He said the event organizers, the guests as well as the hotel management would be prosecuted in accordance to the quarantine regulations and future course of action will be taken after reporting facts to the court.
