Transportation Services in Colombo restricted

Colombo (News 1st); Transportation Services in Colombo were restricted following a quarantine curfew imposed for Fort and Pettah.

State Minister Dilum Amunugama speaking to News 1st said all buses which commence operations from Fort and Pettah and list Fort and Pettah as the destination, will no longer operate until further notice.

This applies to both Sri Lanka Transport Board & Private Bus Operators, said the State Minister.

The Department of Examinations said the suspended transport services will not affect students facing the G. C. E. Advanced Level Examination.

Commission General of Examinations speaking to News 1st said transport services will be in operation only for Advanced Level Students, Invigilators, Examination Staff and employees of schools.

Nilan Miranda, the Director-General of the National Transport Commission speaking to News 1st said the private bus terminal in Gunashinghapura, Pettah was closed down immediately after quarantine curfew was imposed for Pettah.

The Department of Railways said long-distance and inter-city train operations were cancelled with effect from Monday (26).

All office and passenger transport train services operating along the Main Line, Puttlam Line, and the Kelaniveli Line have were suspended.

However, 06 train journeys would operate along the Coastal Line, said the Department of Railways adding the train would restrict its operations to Colpetty.

Several trains would operate for the benefit of Advanced Level students from Rambukkana, Chilaw and Polgahawela to Fort, Colombo.
