Close contacts of COVID-19 cases to be quarantined at home

Colombo (News 1st); Family members and close contacts of people who test positive for COVID-19 will be placed in home quarantine and not taken to quarantine centers, said the Army Commander.

Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said people placed in self-quarantine at homes must strictly adhere to the advice of health authorities during the quarantine period.

People placed in home quarantine should never have contact with outsiders during the period in question and must always comply with the instructions given, he added.

If the number of COVID-19 cases and contact from particular areas drop, authorities would consider lifting the quarantine curfew imposed on those areas, said Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva who is also the Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

The quarantine process followed so far was revisited and its the recommendation was presented to the President on Monday (26), said the Army Commander.

At present when COVID-19 cases are detected, the patient and close contacts and moved to Quarantine Centres.
