Colombo (News 1st); There is no decision on imposing an island-wide quarantine curfew, said DIG Ajith Rohana on Friday (23).

Sri Lanka's COVID-19 Prevention Task Force met on Friday (23) evening and there was no recommendation with regard to an island-wide quarantine curfew, said the Deputy Police Chief.

The Quarantine Curfew is currently in place across 44 Police Areas, especially in Kuliyapitiya, Gampaha, and Colombo North.

"Sri Lanka Police deployed additional strength to enforce the Quarantine Curfew, especially during the weekend," he said adding public movement in those areas will be strictly restricted.

Vehicles are permitted to travel across the respective areas however, no vehicle is permitted to stop inside those areas, even along by-roads.

Employees attached to essential service can produce their service ID as a curfew pass, to report to work only, stressed the Deputy Police Chief.

Sri Lanka Police arrested approximately 700 people for violating the quarantine curfew since the 04th of October 2020 after the detection of the Minuwangoda Cluster.

In addition, 100 vehicles were seized by Sri Lanka Police for violating the Quarantine Curfew.
