Colombo (News 1st); 20 fishermen at the Beruwala Fisheries Harbour tested positive for COVID-19, said Deputy Police Chief Ajith Rohana.
Samples were obtained from fishermen and their close contacts for PCR tests, he said.
The Beruwala Fisheries Harbour was closed temporarily on Friday (23) after several people from the premises were identified as those who were exposed to COVID-19.
Acting Deputy Director-General of Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath speaking to News 1st said the premises was closed in order to conduct PCR tests of all those who were present.
Further 06 COVID-19 cases were reported from the Galle Port and a total of 165 PCR tests were carried out.
Sri Lanka Police said a COVID-19 patient who was receiving treatment at the Kosgama Hospital had escaped.
