Colombo (News 1st); Experts at the Ministry of Indigenous Medicine developed multiple herbal drugs to combat the risk of contracting the coronavirus.
State Minister of Indigenous Medicine Promotion, Rural and Ayurvedic Hospitals Development, and Community Health Sisira Jayakody told News 1st these herbal drugs will be for those infected with the COVID-19 virus and those who were at risk of contracting the virus.
Further, multiple immunization drugs have been developed to combat COVID-19 and 10 Sri Lankan companies have been permitted to produce these drugs, said the State Minister.
He said the production is based on the recommendation of a committee of experts.
One of the products is the ’Suwadharani Immunizing Drink’, he said while another drug is produced in limited numbers.
The State Minister said these herbal drugs are yet to be administered on COVID-19 patients and requests have been forwarded to the respective authorities to proceed with these trials.
