Kabir says MPs resigned to protect Govt. and not Rishad

Colombo (News 1st); Ex-Chairman of the United National Party Kabir Hashim on Thursday (15) said when a motion of no-confidence was put forward against Ex-Minister Rishad Bathiudeen, Muslim MPs resigned from the Government to protect it and not to protect Bathiudeen.

It was for the first time Kabir Hashim testified at the Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to investigate the 2019 April 21st Attacks.

The Ex-Minister said on two separate occasions he strongly warned the Cabinet of Minister of extremists and their growing presence.

He said the then President informed him to pass on the information with regard to extremist activity to the heads of security.

Kabir Hashim in his testimony said he was never officially invited to attend the National Security Council meeting.
