Union seeks protective gear for state employees

COLOMBO (News1st): The Development Officers Service Union has requested authorities to provide sufficient personal protective gear for state employees to carry out their duties amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The union added that development officers attached to divisional secretariats in the Gampaha district have received instructions to report information on COVID-19 patients. Accordingly, the union had written to the secretary to the ministry of provincial councils to take steps to purchase personal protection equipment to individuals such as development officers who are involved in essential services under the operational costs of those institutions.
