Gampaha district secretary seeks allowance for affected families

COLOMBO (News1st): The Gampaha district secretary has requested the finance ministry to disburse funds worth Rs 361.7 million to assist families affected due to COVID-19 in areas that are under curfew. The district secretary had also requested the finance ministry to issue a directive to provide the Rs 5000 allowance among affected families,  as it was carried out during the initial outbreak of the virus. He pointed out that 72,345 families have been affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the district. Upon inquiries made by News 1st, the finance ministry confirmed that it had received the letter sent by the district secretary.
